Parking & Transport

Chedi Thai Restaurant is located in King Street, the heart of Newtown’s vibrant entertainment quarter. The secret to enjoying a visit to Newtown is to plan and arrange your transport. Doing this leaves you free to relax and enjoy your dining experience.

Where possible and certainly if you are coming from within a 10 kilometre radius of Newtown, we recommend that you arrive by public transport and return by taxi (or public transport). The Newtown Precinct is well served by both public transport and taxis.

Limited secure parking is available by appointment only. Please call 9516 1127 for futher information.

Other Parking

Street parking is extremely limited and time restrictions apply. If you are planning to find on-street parking, it is advisable to arrive early and with a supply of change for ticket parking machines.

Council Parking Areas

• There is a council parking area on the corner of Lennox and Church Streets, behind the Dendy Cinema & IGA supermarket (Turn into Church Street from King Street).
• Wilson Street has two council parking areas. (Turn into Wheatley Street from King Street)

Sydney University Campus

• ‘Pay & Display’ ticket dispensing machines cater for casual parking on campus.
• Evening/ overnight parking is available for entry after 3pm to 6am the following day.
• The price is $2 per hour or $6 maximum.

The Western Ave Underground Car Park

• This Car Park (Map Ref E7) has 180 spaces and is open 24 hours.
• Monday-Friday all day parking is available between 6am and 3pm for a flat rate of $15.
• Saturday & Sunday all day parking is available $2 per hour or $6 maximum.

Seymour Centre Car Park

• The University of Sydney multi-storey car park next to the Seymour Centre (corner of Cleveland and Shepherd Streets, entry from Shepherd Street.
• Pay and display ticket system (current rates are $2 per hour up to a maximum of $6).

RPAH Medical Centre

Close to CCE on the corner of Missenden Road and Carillon Ave, the car park holds 200 secure parking places. Enter via Carillion Ave. Open from 7.00am to 7.30pm Monday to Friday. Cost is $6 per hour.

Taxi & Public Transport

Newtown is well served by public transport late into the evening, and taxis services are plentiful.

TRAIN

Chedi Thai is a 5 minute walk from Newtown Train Station along colourful King Street. Newtown Station is 3 stops from Central Station, where Newtown trains depart from Platform 19.

BUS

Buses 422, 423, 426 and 428 depart from Circular Quay, travel through the city via Castlereagh Street to Railway Square, through Broadway and Newtown.

Buses 352 and 355 depart from Bondi Junction, along Oxford St down Crown and Cleveland St’s Surry Hills, and then City Rd and King St.

Bus 370 departs from Coogee and travels though Randwick, Kensington, Roseberry, Zetland and Waterloo to Newtown.

Bus 370 runs from Leichhardt and stops at Annandale, Glebe Point Rd, City Road, King St and Newtown.
